The facade of Museo Casa Montejo marks one of the four plots surrounding Plaza Grande. Banamex describes the house as the only example of a Renaissance-style civil house in Mexico.

Francisco de Montejo, conqueror of Yucatán, ordered its construction between 1542 and 1549. The house later opened to the public as Casa de Cultura Banamex in 2010.

The museum’s permanent rooms recreate historic domestic interiors, alongside spaces for exhibitions and other activities.

Mexico’s Secretaría de Cultura describes four permanent rooms: a study-library, sitting room, bedroom and dining room. Their furnishings represent the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum also has three rooms for temporary exhibitions, mediation and multipurpose rooms, and a shop-bookstore.
